Community Buildings: Introduction to Trustee roles and responsibilities for good governance (281118)

Registration is closed for this event
This foundation course is an excellent way of helping both existing and new trustees and committee members to understand what their role and responsibilities are in governing an effective organisation

Course content

Trustees have independent control over, and legal responsibility for, a charity’s management and administration. Being aware of the role and responsibilities of trustees will help you carry out your role in a way that not only serves your charity well but also gives you confidence that you will be complying with key requirements of the law.

Subjects covered include: ways of discharging these roles, the meaning of the terms “governance” and “duty of care”, the different “officer“ functions on the committee and what they do, how to plan a cycle of meetings and the work of the trustee board and how to set effective agendas.

This course is for trustees and committee members who want to understand their roles and responsibilities.

Questions you will be able to answer

  • What are my roles and responsibilities as trustee or trustee / director as required by law?
  • How do I critically appraise our own organisation and my roles as trustee?
  • How and why do I undertake a risk review of our organisation?

What others say…

  • “Great information, well presented.” Jane, June 2016
  • “I understand my role as a trustee better now and will be able to contribute better.” Steven, June 2016
